February is African American History Month, also known as
Black History Month. It is a point in time to pay honor and remember the past
and present accomplishments of African Americans. Established in 1926 by Dr.
Carter G. Woodson, known as the “Father of Black History,” it began as the
celebration of Negro History Week, because it aligned with the birthdays of
Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. The ERS Library has books available for
